Product catalog
The product catalog is simply a database or other type of list that contains the product information for the products you sell.

The shopping cart is the mechanism by which customers choose the items they want to buy and enter payment information in order to purchase the item from your store.
Payment gateway
The payment gateway is simple where the credit card numbers are processed and stored. In the course of checking out the customer enters their credit card number and then clicks some type of “complete sale” button. The credit card information is sent securely over the internet to a payment gateway. It is the job of the payment gateway to store the credit card in their databases and sent the information over to the merchant account for verification. The payment gateway is nothing more than a middleman for credit card number storage.

The merchant account or merchant bank is a bank that validates credit card information and handles transferring funds from the customer account to your business account. The bank’s only responsibility is transferring funds between other types of banks.
